Browser Privacy and Security Checklist
Lock down your browser in just a few minutes — no tech skills needed.
✅ Step 1: Use a Private Browser
Choose a browser that respects your privacy from the start:
Firefox – Customizable and privacy-focused
Brave – Blocks ads and trackers by default
⚠️ Edge – Better than Chrome, but still sends data to Microsoft
❌ Chrome – Built by Google, designed to collect your data
💡 Tip: Use one browser for logins and another for private research or everyday browsing.
🔒 Step 2: Change These Browser Privacy & Security Settings
Go into your browser’s Settings or Preferences, and adjust the following:
Block or set strict protection against third-party cookies, trackers, and fingerprinting
Turn off search suggestions
Set your default search engine to DuckDuckGo
Disable location, microphone, and camera access to websites
Enable “Do Not Sell or Share My Data” (if available)
Regularly delete browsing data: history, cookies, cache, form info, etc.
Disable password saving in your browser – use a password manager instead
Disable auto-fill for forms and credit card info
Enable “Always use private browsing mode”
Block pop-ups and auto-redirects
Enable warning for when sites try to install add-ons
Disable all browser data collection options
Enable blocking of dangerous content
Enable HTTPS-only mode
Disable WebRTC to prevent IP leaks (especially when using a VPN)
✅ Most of these settings can be found in your browser’s Privacy, Security, or Advanced sections.
